I want to talk to you about the types of change in your church. So, let’s take a look at these four categories.
Is your church experiencing a strategic change? Are you restructuring to better support a church’s mission or vision? Are you reorganizing to create more clarity and alignment? Perhaps there are better, more effective ways that you can allocate your resources.
Next, ask these questions about people changes. Is this about shifting someone out of their current role into a new key ministry role? Are they equipped to step up to the new challenges and responsibilities of this role? Or are you practicing leadership placement and not leadership development and need to make that shift?
Is it a process change? Have you created ministry processes so that you can effectively give away ministry responsibility? Do you know what is necessary to make that process easier and more efficient?
If the change isn’t strategic and it’s not about the people and it’s not about the processes, it’s likely about you. It’s about yourself, so you need to take a good hard look in the mirror and ask yourself what you are going to do differently as you lead this change.
So where does your change fit? Answer these questions to better understand the implications of what you’re trying to accomplish. Then decide what you are going to do about it.
