On October 12-14 our team at Lifeway Leadership is hosting the Pipeline Conference in Nashville. The conference will have two coaching days you can choose from (the 12th or 14th – though the 14th is already nearly full!) and a main event featuring Thom Rainer, Paul Tripp, Trip Lee, Eric Geiger, Carey Nieuwhof, and more. Unlike other conferences, Pipeline will not simply be a series of motivational sermons. The aim is to train attendees how to develop leaders and how to build a leadership pipeline at your churches.
As your church leadership team looks ahead to the fall and plans what events you will be part of, consider Pipeline. It will be a different experience and offer you something unique and needed. You will walk away with a plan of how to develop leaders at every level of your church and tools to help you do so. We are offering significant early bird and group discounts through July 31 and seats are filling fast, so move quickly!
Here are 5 ways you can get the most out of Pipeline.
1) Come as a team
You might be from a small church and “team” means two of you or from a large church where there are twenty of you. Regardless, Pipeline is set up to be the most beneficial for a team because developing leaders is everyone’s job. To develop a leadership pipeline will involve every single member of your staff. It will be a culture shift and likely mean some changes to structures and systems, so get everyone on board as quickly as you can.
2) Come to learn, not just listen
Pipeline will be a master’s class in leadership development. Don’t just come for sound bites and opportunities to tweet. Come with a blank notebook multiple writing utensils and a hungry mind. Come with questions and think of more while you’re there. This is a rare opportunity to learn leadership development, so take full advantage.
3) Write it down and take it with you (including all the free resources we’ll give)
Take notes. Take lots of notes. And leave room in your luggage for books and other resources. You will have the chance to walk away with a leadership development library starter kit.
4) Discuss it – Stay for day two to work a plan with your team and our coaches
The main conference will fill you up with knowledge and a plan, but if you really want to get the most out of Pipeline be sure to sign up for day 2 (limited seating, move fast!) where your team can be coached by Lifeway Leadership’s team on how to implement a leadership pipeline. You’ll be able to work as a team to determine how best to do it in your ministry context. It will be a fantastic blend of coaching and interaction.
5) Implement it immediately when you get back
Don’t waste time. If you like what you learned start taking steps the moment you get back. As you will learn – this likely won’t mean dramatic restructuring right off the bat. It will mean gauging your current systems and structures and beginning to see where your strengths and weaknesses lie as an organization. But if you wait you will lose urgency, so come, learn, write, discuss, and then do.
