Today I want to talk to you about your leadership bent. Now as a leader in your church or ministry, you must be passionate and put forth an effort to fulfill your church’s mission. So, let’s take a look.
First, you want to assess how much effort you put into fulfilling your church’s mission. Then, you want to determine how motivated you are, how passionate you are for that mission. Mark where those two things intersect.
If you are not putting forth a lot of effort, and you aren’t exactly passionate about the church’s mission, you are a marshmallow. A lot of what you do and say is just fluff.
If you put forth a tremendous amount of effort, but you lack passion, then you are a mercenary. You might come across as a mercenary to others. You are great at executing tasks and getting it done, but you may seem more like someone who cares more about getting it done than what is getting done or why it’s being done. So, you want to move forward and into a different category as quickly as possible.
If you are passionate about your church’s mission, but you lack effort and you are just talking about it, you are a motivator more than anything else. You want to get things done to fulfill your church’s mission, but likely you don’t have the structure or systems or you haven’t thought about it enough to put things in place to actually get it done.
If you are passionate and you put forth tremendous effort, you are probably a missionary. You balance that structure needed to fulfill your church’s mission, as well as that desire to make sure it comes to fruition.
Now that you better understand your leadership bent in fulfilling your church’s mission, what are you going to do about it?
